So here's an update that isn't related to the Revs. The European season just got underway and there's something about the beginning of the season that has bothered me, especially the last few years. The closing of the transfer window. I really hate how the transfer window closes after the season starts. When the season starts your roster should be set. You should know who you can count on, at least until January. With the window closing after the beginning of the season you're left wondering who's going to leave and who isn't. This can cause a lot of turmoil within locker rooms. Just look at Porto with Moutinho and Hulk, Tottenham with Modric, Fulham with Dempsey. It just causes a lot of unnecessary distractions. It can really screw a team over for a few weeks as the coach has to deal with players who are thinking about a potential move as opposed to training and games. Even if you deny a player a transfer and he's unhappy about not leaving, the player knows he isn't leaving and he can't try and force a move out while the coach and the rest of the team are preparing for that week's game. I think it's something UEFA should do, close the transfer window before all of the leagues start and do it on the same day for everyone who is a part of UEFA. There are just too many distractions in the current system and you're left wondering for a few weeks about what your team's roster is actually going to look like. Some teams even suffer and have slower starts, such as Tottenham this year.
